December Recap
Even though the comic is down to one episode per week lately, December of 2009 has been quite the busy month for Art Geek Zoo. Lots of site upates: There's a new About page that shares more about me, why I do the comic, inspirations for the comic, and a brief introduction to the world and story of Art Geek Zoo. I've also published a new Characters page that will be an ongoing, growing guide to the people and places of Art Geek Zoo. Finally, I've made many small updates to the software I use to run the site. The feed of comics/posts should be showing images again, the site should be getting faster, and it's definitely getting easier to update the site with the authoring features I've been adding. Also worth noting: I'm going to be publishing the source code in the near-ish future once I feel it's complete-enough to be useful to others. Stay tuned for that. And the biggest change is behind the scenes, I'm beyond happy and proud to announce the arrival of my daughter: Kaia. I hope you all have had a great December and wonderful holiday season! .\m/ Rob
An Awesome Feedback Loop

The AGZ Readers Feedback Loop

I just want to thank all the supportive readers that have been watching Art Geek Zoo progress over the last 21 months. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts and kind words. It's a lot of fun telling the story of a penguin and his mystical guitar friend. I've learned a ton and intend to keep feeding those learnings back in to making the best comic (and projects related to the comic -- see below) that I can. Speaking of feedback loop...

Lots of New Readers Whoo!

In the last month readership has jumped 50% which just blows me away. Looking at the web traffic map, it looks like most of you have come from all 50 states in the US. In addition to that, it's just wild to see that people visit from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America. The UK (homeland of my favorite band of all time: Iron Maiden) has the most readers outside of the US.

By the way, I've got to thank you Northern Europe for raining fresh metal during the 90's. The US had a serious drought and I keep learning more and more about how you kept metal (a huge inspiration for me) alive during those dark times.

Welcome new readers! You're tuning in just when I'm starting to feel like I've gained my footing as a comic artist and story teller.

New Schedule, Projects, Balancing Time

I am planning to publish comics 1-3 days per week, targeting Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This is very similar to the current schedule, but affords a flexibility that I need to accomplish my goals, keep an income, and stay connected to family and friends.

As to Projects, having more flexibility in the schedule will help me:

1) Finish the new comic hosting software (a.k.a. comic content management system) that's powering this very site you're looking at.

2) Work further ahead in AGZ writing and thumbnail art to tell a good story.

3) Add more content to the site. This includes character bios, store content, and any content that rounds-out the site to be the best web comic experience I can make.

4) And uh... I'm... hesitant to say but what the heck: I will be developing an AGZ Game. It will be a while before it's finished but there should be fun stuff to share along the way, prototypes, images, notes, and the like.

Stick around, watch the AGZ world grow, and cheer Pick and Crunchy on as they face a tough road to become the best artists they can be!

Thank you for reading AGZ!
